Telfair Museum of Art

The Telfair Museum of Art was founded in 1883 and is the oldest public art museum in the South. The museum has three landmark buildings and a permanent collection containing around 4,000 objects from America and Europe, dating primarily from the 18th - 21st centuries. The museum features two 19th century period rooms as well as fine examples of American Impressionism and Ashcan school realism. There is an interactive gallery known as the Jepson Center Artzeum that was designed especially for children and families. The gallery features a towering walk-through glass house, magnetic sculpture wall, public art obelisk, and numerous other hands-on exhibits.
